Recreational Construction
The W. S. Newell Company has been a part of many recreational facilities around Alabama. The Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham was a challenging and exciting project for Newell to be a part of. Newell also constructed the drag strip at the Montgomery Motorsports Park. The company has served as site contractor for several sport complexes, including Opelika SportsPlex.
Newell excavated the Lake Frank Johnson, a 1,000 acre stream-feed reservoir located in Opp, AL. Another attraction for the people of Alabama is The Blount Cultural Park and The Montgomery Museum of Fine Art.
Newell was awarded the civil package for the Auburn University Band Practice Field and parking lot. The practice field was fine laser graded with special attention to the irrigation and sod per the specifications. Another higher education project is Troy University’s Intramural Fields at their main campus in Troy, AL.
